Career Update – Introduction to Chadwick Cannon Agency

I thought this would be a good time to dust off the blog and tell you about a couple big changes in our lives. March 25th will be my last day to serve full time with Thomas Nelson as VP of Marketing for Nelson Books. The past three years have been tremendous both personally and professionally. It’s been an honor to work with the best team in the business under the leadership of Brian Hampton. I’ve learned so much from people like Mark Schoenwald, David Moberg, Joel Miller, Bryan Norman, Webb Younce, Kristen Parrish, and countless others. I will never take for granted the wisdom and leadership I’ve learned from each of them.

I can remember almost exactly three years ago sitting with the team on my first day sharing with the team we were going to have fun, work hard, do things differently, and have success. Truthfully, I knew how to lead a team, to have fun and work hard, but I was new to the publishing industry. Each member of the team rose to the occasion and thrived in their individual roles. We gelled in a way that was truly special. In the past three years, the team has led marketing and publicity campaigns for 16 New York Times Bestsellers along with numerous other phenomenal books. This happened through strong collaboration with our team and amazing authors, but as I hoped, we had a ton of fun along the way.

The past three years have been a fun ride! They’ve been the best of my career. I woke up every day looking forward to working with the team to serve our authors and agents. It was made fun because of the people I got to do it with, which is very rare in today’s work culture. Though I meet this next part of the journey with anticipation and excitement, I can honestly say that it was not an easy decision to leave the people I have grown so fond of working with and truly love.

Which begs the next question. What’s next?

From a young age, I have had the dream to start and grow my own company. I have been fortunate to work for some great companies and gain irreplaceable experience, but have always known eventually I would be called out on my own. Late last year, I felt a stirring in my heart that the time may be near. After much consideration and prayer with Julie, my better half, we knew that the time was now.

Starting April 1st, Julie and I will be working full time to grow Chadwick Cannon Agency, a full service digital marketing firm that helps amplify brands and ideas. One thing I’ve learned in the past three years is that I absolutely love the publishing industry. I love the power a book has to move forward an idea. It’s my hope that I continue to work alongside publishers, agents, and authors in some capacity. We’ll be launching by working with three incredible brands: Proverbs 31 Ministries/Lysa TerKeurst, Michael Hyatt, and Les & Leslie Parrott. We have some fun initiatives planned with each of them for the next twelve months. We believe so much in the work being done with these organizations and are honored to come alongside in their efforts. It’s happened so fast that I don’t even have a fancy logo or website. Those will be coming soon.

We’ve got some big dreams to grow this company based in Nashville, TN. More details to come on that soon. This is an exciting time for Julie and me as we make this transition. We have felt loved and supported along the way from Thomas Nelson and from our friends and family. There is no chance we could have done this all alone, so we thank every person who has been on this journey with us. Thank you!
